plumbing

to begin this task the teacher showed as a fixed waste pipe fixed to a sink and sent us away, he then began taking parts off and then we would had to fix the problems that he did,
but firstly i began by putting on my PPE boot and goggles didn't need gloves for this task as its plastic and water.
after about 10mins we was sent back to the area to fix the problem from the start we knew what to do but we had a few problems, the rubber seal that was suppose to go onto the waste pipe didn't fit and we just left it and didn't know that later on it would leak.
most of the problems we noticed straight away "the rubber seal have been taken out" and pipes have been changed to be not level
we finished this task within a few minutes but we wasn't given any water to test to see if any leaks would occur like the other gruops that went before us.

shelf and coat hook

I began by putting on my PPE steel toe capped boots gloves to protect my feet if the shelf of hooks fall off the wall or from any other falling objects.

i then started by getting the wood that is need for the task and cutting down them to the size that is needed.
i then started marking out the size of the shelf and marking them onto the bay were a spit and screw is needed, i then began screwing in the spit with a screwdriver not using a cordless cause it can cause cracking of the plaster
i then started screwing the brackets into the splits "we use spits to give strength on plasterboard to get a better grip"
and screwed in the mdf with the brackets and made sure it was level.
i then began on the coat hook did the same thing screws the mdf into the spits and screwed the hooks onto the mdf.

tiling using grid

first off i started by placing on my ppe

goggles- from dust going into eyes
gloves - to protect from reactions or sharp corners

secondly i started by fetching all the equipment that i would be using before starting,
i then began by marking out a centre point in the middle of the bay this is a very important part "planning" because if my markings was off my a few mm it would increase by everyrow of tiles.
i then began marking out the bay soo it looks like a chess board "the tilers would fit in the squares and if they was out of place i would see by looking at the markings.
i then fixed a tile batten to the plasterboard soo the tiles had somewhere to rest on, after finsihing this i started placing tile adhesive onto the wall and placing standard glazed tiles. after finishing tiling half of the side bay i cleaned up the tiles to make them shine and give a better finish i cleaned up my area.

painting

firstly to start thye day i started by putting on my ppe boots gloves and boots to protect my skin and feet from falling objects and reactions to the paint that you may have,
i then started by getting the equipment that i would be using through the whole day
paint,brush,paint tray,kettel plus other that i will mention later on in the blog :)
i began by miscoating the wall in white to show any inperfections
i them began decanding the paint into a paint tray "magnolio"  then i started to cutting in with a 1" brush and then used a roller to put on the rest making sure it was a nice even coat this only took a few minutes if i didnt cut in this would have tooken much longer as a roller cannot get into the corners aswell as a brush.

architrave

firsly i started by placing on my ppe boots gloves and goggles, i then began getting all the equipment i would be using mitre saw pencil spirit level and architrave. i then began marking out 10mm from the door so i know where the architrave will be placed after cutting, i then started marking out on the architrave the sizes that would be needed to fit in place before cutting. after checking to see they fitted together i fixed them togetherwith nail to hold it inplace i then made sure it was level before moving on.

after finishing the dado rail and skirting, on monday it will be checked and see if im ready to start on the miscoat which will show anymore inperfections in the plaster which im sure there will be a few. if there is any i will sand them down or using more filler to fill any gaps as you can see in the picture there is some gaps in the skirting but i can use filler to fill in the  gaps at the back. After the miscoat there will be a overcoat and gloss after that with only 14 days left soo not long left.

dado rails

firstly i started by putting on my ppe boots goggles and gloves to protect myself from dust and sharp items, then i started by getting 2 long pieces of dado rails, then using the same method i marked out ther sizes that i would need soo they fit in place i cut a 45degree angle using a mitre saw then scribed in using a coping saw to fit neatly inplace i then mark the plaster at 1000mm/100cm soo i knew where the dado rail was going to be place i then got a spirit level making sure it was all level i nailed them in place

skirting board

first of all i started as usual by placing on my ppe boots gloves and googles, today i was going to place up my dado rails and skirting board, second thing was to get the equipment that i would be using : coping saw spirit level pencil etc.. i then marked out the size of skirting boards that i would need then cut them using a mitre saw i cut them at a 45degree angle then scribed them to fit inplace. i then nailed them into the plaster to hold them inplace.

we finaly started on internal wall where we was going to be marked for are upcoming exam firstly to start the day i started by placing on my ppe such as boots gloves and goggles,we then we giving a demonstration on what we was going to be doing in the last few weeks, first we started by putting the metal bead that you see in the bottom left hand picture at the size 1200cm after fixing that in place i started making up some plaster for the inside of the bay using a stirring stick  side trowel and monkey bucket i then mixed water and plaster untill we was happy that the plaster was mixed, then using a hawk and trowel we loaded up the plaster on to the wall, around 30min to 1hour for plaster to dry onto the wall before laying on a second coat which would be smoothed ready to sand/ miscoat as you see in right picture.

i began this session by putting on my p.p.e such as boots and gloves to protect my skins from any paint going into cuts i may have. "protection"
after I had my p.p.e on i then began collecting the materials "paint" and 1 bucket of water.

i then began mixing the paint and around 30% of water after i felt that the paint was ok for the miscoast i began putting a fine coat to show imperfections after i done the miscoat i then sanded down or fillered the bumb or hole down.

sanding /filling

firstly i started by putting on my ppe boots glove goggle and mask, i then began by making sure my mask was on before sanding the outside. i didnt need to do alot of sanding coz we wasnt getting mark for the outside of the bay, put i still make sure that it was smooth and ready to be fileld and painted.
i started at the bottom left side of the bay working my work up to the top sanding anything that felt out of place.
if i saw any holes or gaps i would fill them into after sanding "marking them out with a pencil soo i didnt lose them or forget". after sanding i started making some filler with lewis carefully making sure we didnt put too much water into the mix then using a scraper i filled everyhole hole or gap i marked out earlier.

Architrave

To begin I started by putting on my PPE such as boots goggles and gloves to protect my skin and hands from any cuts or splinters that may occur making the architrave.
firstly i collected the materials that i would need to make the architrave frame, 2 long pieces of architrave size "1.3m+"
I began making the architrave at a height of 1.3m "door size 1220mm" and cut two pieces and cut them down to size to place on the sizes of the door "placed half way on the plaster and door frame"  i then marked out the header and cut to size.
and checked to see if it would all fit together after i checked i started cutting a 45* angle on the architrave and using a mitre saw i cut the architrave to size and nailed it in place, after i checked to make sure it was level "So it fitted nicely".

plastering

firstly I started by putting on my PPE such as

Boots - protect feet from any falling objects

Gloves - to protect skin from any materials
Goggles - to protect eyes from dust or sharp objects
Overalls - to protect clothes or skin

After i had all my PPE on i went down to collect the plaster " multi finish"  i then got 2 buckets to mix the plaster together afterwards we started to mix the plaster "1 bag of plaster to every 1/3 of water in a "monkey bucket". 
we then poured the plaster into a wooden box and started plastering the front of the bay " 2 coats"
i have plasted one coat at the moment  after applying one coat if left overnight apply watered down pva, to allow plaster to bond to wall otherwise plaster will just crack if not applyed

making a door frame

firstly i started by putting on ppe boots gloves goggles to protect myself by any injury on my skin and eyes.
i then collected the materials that i would need making the door frame, i then started marking out the sizes of the frame to the size of the door.

I then started cutting the wood to the correct size and then started fitting it to the bay that was fitted for us.

i then started adding noggings to the side's, after that i started cutting out some fox wedges to hold up the door to the frame, i then pre-drilled them and screwed them in place.

 after making the frame i then went onto the plasterboarding which i will write next.

the first thing i did before entering the workshop was putting on my ppe

I then started by collecting the materials such as plastboard, stanley knife, pencil, level,square and tape measure after getting all materials i started by marking out the size that was need to place into the bay so that afterwards i could plaster it.

I cut 3 pieces of plasterboard to place into the bay, two pieces was to fitted to the sides and one sitting on the top "there was a 15mm gap around the sides so there be room for the plaster boards/ plaster, so the plaster could rest on the frame.
